What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. At Cedar Tree we offer a range of courses tailored for supporting people with their Mental Health.
The courses can be attended by anyone from age 18 upwards.
Each and every MHFA course is delivered by a quality assured instructor.
Adult MHFA Two Day course
A practical skills and awareness course designed to give you:
- An in depth understanding of mental health and factors that affect well-being
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Learn how to empower someone to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP, their school or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and more.
- Ability to support a person with a long-term mental health issue or disability to thrive.
- Tools to look after your own mental well-being.
How will I learn?
Learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions.
How will attending an MHFA course help?
Research and evaluation shows that taking part in an MHFA course:
- Raises awareness and mental health literacy.
- Reduces stigma around mental ill health.
- Boosts knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental .health issues.
- Promotes early intervention which enables recovery.
On completion
Everyone who completes the course will receive a MHFA manual, a personal workbook including some helpful tools to support your own mental health and a certificate to say they are a Mental Health First Aider.

Group booking Pricing Guide
Group bookings are great for organisations that want to train 8 or more employees in Mental Health First Aid. The Cedar Tree g roup booking can save your organisation up to £130 per person of a regular MHFA scheduled course*. See table below.
Organisations can also sell additional spaces or donate them to customers and associates.
Notes
- *MHFA England value this course at £300 per person.
- If you want to have more than 11 delegates (max 16), we may have to have two trainers, which would be an additional cost. (approx. £800)
- If you have more than 16, we will have to have more than one course.
- Cedar Tree can offer deferred payment options.
- Additional Charity discounts available.
- The MHFA courses can run over 2 consecutive days or split over a number of weeks.
- Customers purchasing a group booking will need to provide a training venue large enough to run the course, plus refreshment and lunch (if required). Additional COVID19 rules also apply .
